READ ABOUT THE EVENTS WE’RE
DOING THIS WEEKEND!

Things are changing quickly.

Recently I’ve been trying out “Crazy Wisdom”, but only in texting and the last few days on the website.  It doesn’t work in text, just real life. I’m mostly done. Crazy Wisdom is too chaotic in text/web form. It needs to be personal. So not much entertainment of that kind will find you here. I do regret you cannot read Jan’s poem, it made absolutely clear what can happen when empty people are around. Too bad.

I asked JAN FRAZIER what she would write for a cover if I wrote a book, to get a sense of what she thought of me. This is what she wrote:

“Michael Walsh is the most profoundly awake person I have ever encountered. He has lived in this awareness of the truth for many years. He is searingly intelligent, careful and articulate in his expression, and delightfully irreverent. He is unerringly honest.

But what you feel in his presence, above all other qualities, is that he is loving. To have that boundless heart in a being who is this awake, and with a rigorous intelligence that functions only in the service of love, is a rare blessing. When Michael expresses himself from that awakeness, the very deepest part of you says yes, this is so. It’s as if he’s articulating something you didn’t know you knew — until now.

Meeting Michael Walsh has been one of my life’s great good fortunes. My sense of myself as an awake person, and as a spiritual teacher, has been profoundly challenged and enriched by him.

Michael does not appear, on first impression, to be “spiritual.” He does not look or behave like a holy man. He comes of no tradition and promotes no practice or set of beliefs. In fact, his gentle urging is to look at who you are unburdened of beliefs.

I want others to be touched by him as I have been. His presence is a pure blessing in this world.”

Recently I’ve been trying out “Crazy Wisdom”, but only in texting and the last few days in response to a nonsense letter from a former love. I’m mostly done. I do regret you cannot read Jan’s poem, it made absolutely clear what can happen when empty people are around. Too bad.

In India there is a careful system of guidance and preparation for the newly awakened which requires extended periods of contemplation heavily guided by “elders” who are already enlightened and can recognize the landmarks of maturation and readiness within their students to become teachers. This can take years. In the West we have no such system. I have noticed a distinct difference between matured and newborn teachers no matter how they package their message.

Living with One who has been awake for a long time and has the wisdom gained (enlightenment) from that “level”, (not that there are really levels but one must use language in an attempt to point at something), I get a ringside seat of his vision. I understand that there is awake-ness and there is the human and that both things co-exist, in an odd mutually exclusive way. This awake person continues to function in a very human way with preferences, thoughts, feelings, and reactions, the whole gamut. On the surface it can resemble any ego driven creature, but fundamentally it is radically different.

.
For lack of direct experience, most have unconscious but detailed expectations and ideas of what awake-ness should look like on an operating level. Michael may appear to fall so far short of those ideas, that it can result in confusion, doubt, and ultimately, rejection. People can be shocked when they discover how human Michael can be. He makes no effort to hide that. Being detached, means there’s no need be secretive or defend, and he is honest with whatever he is thinking and feeling at the moment.

.
Michael’s teaching focuses upon the actual condition of awakening as opposed to the fairytale.
Your ability to learn about this requires that you be able to leave your ego at the door so that you can fully listen. If you have a teacher active in your life who gets you wondering in any way about the authenticity of their enlightenment, then you are stuck in ego and will miss what s/he has to offer. Taking the time to find out more about him / her is really important, so that you can resolve your wondering and make full use of the opportunity — or leave. Your questions should include these. Is their awake-ness abiding or have they just had a few episodes? If abiding, then for how long? When did they begin to teach? Because a newly awakened person needs to integrate the shift and to begin the process of becoming enlightened, (the wisdom gained only after awakening, that comes from contemplating with the awakened mind). This takes time, usually years. So, if they do start teaching immediately they really have nothing to offer but the still unexamined recycling of what they knew before. There are many of these teachers working right now, during the most vulnerable period of their own development who are the least qualified to guide others.

Yes! Laura, thank you – you nailed it in your ring-side description of Michael. How the human and the awake-ness “co-exist, in an odd mutually exclusive way,” and people unconsciously assume awake-ness should look like something different than Michael. 🙂
People can be shocked when they discover how human Michael can be,” you say. I know that experience, and the other experience: what Jan describes in her note/poem to him.

Poem Snippet Removed Returned Removed while under consideration.

Indeed.

Michael’s definition for “AWAKENING” is:

“ A change which happens within a persons consciousness or brain, where in illumination happens and the minds clarity becomes free of fogs, filtering judgments, etc. The world is seen as-it-is. The “I” delusion falls away.” (Pg 21 Ego Attachment…)

His expansive definition for “ENLIGHTENMENT” is:

“The wisdom attained, restudied, learned AFTER spiritual awakening. This Absolutely means taking the time to review ALL old beliefs, practices and attainments and throw them all out, saving only what is needed to function and communicate. CERTAINLY there is No Room for teaching their “OLD” stuff — if it was any value, why would they need wake up? To teach the same old junk? Of course not. Yet they continue to do it, right in the face of failure. Why? Because although they still have (and cherish) the sensation of “no questions” or “all-knowing” they conveniently fail (because their ego is already returning because it’s necessary to operate in the world after all — but ego doesn’t let them notice itself) — so there they are thinking if they have an old belief it must be true, because then they (ego) gets to teach it to people. And they get to wear special clothes, crystal pendants, do wavy-hand things and such. They get attention and they get to PERFORM!! And “friends” start looking up to them and encourage them deeper into the morass. Those are big inducements to forget the new life, and work for it, but instead slide back, thinking they’re still (whatever they are thinking about themselves)!
With some careful attention, one will quickly realize that the newly Awakened person has had no time whatsoever to learn anything new so they cannot yet have acquired awakened wisdom (enlightenment), nor even have had time to evaluate whether any of their old sacred beliefs are still valid within their new in-sight. But the old beliefs are not valid. There is only one truth. And only expert-type study enables a person to carefully speak of The One Truth while using words which tear it to pieces. A hard undertaking that no amateur wake-up can do. Sorry folks, you’re being horn-swoggled by unethical bandits! Funny thing, huh?” (expanded on pg 22 Ego Attachment…)

In the East, where people believe in reincarnation, it is considered without question that it takes lifetimes to move from Awakenings to Enlightenment. Of course, in the pre-educated West we know it can happen as little as five or six years. But not six months….or, — 6 days, dear God, save us from our saviors! . . :-]
